Celebrating Christmas Across Pele Trust Schools

Overview

As Christmas approaches, schools across Pele Trust have been taking part in seasonal activities and events. Here’s a look at some of the highlights from across our community:

A highlight was Santa visiting several Pele Trust schools. Pupils enjoyed meeting him and taking part in festive activities like Christmas crafts. Students across the Trust schools worked on making decorations and taking part in seasonal traditions such as making Christingles, adding a festive touch to classrooms.

Christmas Performances

Across the Trust, schools hosted a week of Christmas and Nativity performances, welcoming families to share in the celebrations. Pupils demonstrated confidence, enthusiasm, and enjoyment in every performance, taking the stage to sing and dance in front of large audiences.

At Darras Hall Primary School, the KS1 choir reached the final of the Northumberland Christmas Choir Competition at St James’ Church in Morpeth, earning positive feedback from the judges, praising their enthusiasm and joy.

Ponteland High School hosted its annual Christmas Concert, featuring performances from the Brass Band, Wind Band, String Group, Junior and Senior Choirs, and Jazz Band, highlighting the variety of talent across the school.

Students from John Spence Community High School attended performances of A Christmas Carol at the People’s Theatre and Pinocchio at Newcastle Theatre Royal, enjoying the seasonal shows.

Christmas Dinners

Pupils also enjoyed festive meals at school, with many wearing Christmas jumpers to add to the seasonal spirit. Belsay Primary School also took part in the Santa Dash, giving everyone a chance to work off a little of that Christmas dinner.

Festive-Inspired Lessons

Many teachers brought a touch of Christmas into their lessons. For example, at Ponteland Primary School, the English department created Christmas-themed scripts full of imaginative scenes and expressive stage directions.

This festive season has offered a wide range of activities across Pele Trust schools, from performances and crafts to themed lessons and celebrations. We wish everyone in our school community a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
