Pele Trust Students Represent in Football Tournaments Regionally and Globally

Overview

Following our Pele Trust U11 football tournaments, our schools have maintained the competitive spirit across the term. From representing Northumberland, to travelling to Barcelona for the World Schools Football Cup, we are extremely proud of the ambition, dedication and talent shown by our students across the Trust.

The incredibly talented Year 6 footballers at Ponteland Primary School travelled to Barcelona to play in the Schools World Cup. Out of 78 teams from 40 schools across 20 countries, Ponteland’s impressive skills were rewarded with the title of Winners of the Plate! This opportunity is a true celebration, and we are proud of our students for representing their school well, demonstrating great sportsmanship.

The Year 5 girls of Ponteland Primary School also have some amazing football talent, with five students being selected for the Northumberland County U11 South East District Team. Together with their Year 6 teammates, they reached the final of the Schools County 7-a-side competition and secured second place. The Year 6 boys are also showing great promise, with several advancing to the final trials for the Northumberland South East County team and their school team reaching the regional finals of the Premier League Primary Stars.

Adding to the incredible run of football talent within our Trust, the Year 6 team at Darras Hall Primary School have been crowned U11 County Cup Champions. Competing against other primary and middle schools, they played with great determination, teamwork and skill throughout an exciting tournament. Their fantastic efforts have earned them a place representing Northumberland in the next stage of the competition.

It has been an excellent term for sporting success, and we are proud of the schools across our Trust for their efforts.
