Pele Trust U11 Football Tournaments
Overview
We started this year’s competition calendar with the U11 Football Tournament at Darras Hall Primary School. The tournament brought together all five of our Ponteland schools: Ponteland Primary School, Belsay Primary School, Heddon on the Wall St Andrews Church of England Primary School, Richard Coates Church of England Primary School and Darras Hall Primary School. It was amazing to see our schools come together to compete, displaying lots of talent across the Trust.
We kicked off the season on Thursday, 11th September, with the Mixed Tournament, welcoming our primary feeder schools for an exciting day of football packed with skill, teamwork, and enthusiasm. Two weeks later, the Girls’ Tournament took centre stage, showcasing impressive determination, energy, and outstanding sportsmanship throughout.
These tournaments are a wonderful opportunity for our schools to come together, build connections, and celebrate teamwork across the wider community. Events like these help pupils collaborate, develop confidence, and enjoy friendly competition in a supportive environment. They also give younger students the chance to meet and mix with students from other schools, helping them feel more familiar and comfortable before they begin their journey to high school.
The event wouldn’t be possible without our talented Year 9 and 10 Sports Leaders from Ponteland High School, who supported in the running of the tournaments and the officiating of matches.
A huge congratulations to Richard Coates Primary School, who were champions of both tournaments!
These annual events are always a highlight, setting the tone for an exciting year of school sport across the Trust. We’re already looking forward to the next event in the calendar!
