Caretaker

Overview

We are looking for a committed, practical and reliable Caretaker to join our team and help us keep our school safe, clean and welcoming for pupils, staff and visitors.

This is a varied and hands-on role where no two days are the same. Typical duties include:

  • Opening the school and checking the site for safety or damage
  • Carrying out basic maintenance and site checks, including gritting when required
  • Turning on lights, heating and ensuring the school is ready for the day
  • Cleaning areas of the school including toilets and classrooms, emptying bins, replenishing supplies
  • Supporting with minor repairs and day-to-day site jobs

Hours of work are between 10 and 15 per week, between 7am and and 10am for 5 mornings a week plus one additional afternoon, ideally Friday 5pm to 6pm, all year around (which means during school holidays, except where annual leave is taken).

We are looking for someone flexible, who takes pride in their work, can use their initiative, and is approachable and reliable. Previous experience in a similar role would be an advantage but is not essential.

An enhanced DBS is required for this role.  Pre application checks will include right to work in the UK and social media checks, in accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education. References will be sought in advance of interview.
