EYFS/KS1 Teacher

Overview

Are you passionate about providing the very best start to children’s education? Are you an enthusiastic, talented and creative teacher looking to make a real difference in a welcoming and nurturing school community? If so, Shilbottle Primary School would love to hear from you.

We are seeking to appoint an excellent Early Years/KS1 teacher to join our small, friendly and dedicated team. This full-time role will involve teaching across a mixed Reception/Key Stage 1 class, which is typical of small rural schools. Experience of or enthusiasm for mixed-age teaching is highly desirable.

This is a very exciting time to join Shilbottle Primary School. As we join Pele Trust and look towards future growth, you will be part of a dynamic, values-driven school community where every child is known, supported and challenged to be their very best.

Our recent Ofsted inspection (January 2023) praised our school as friendly and welcoming with exceptionally strong relationships between staff, pupils and families.

At Shilbottle, we are committed to nurturing each child’s academic and personal development. Our ethos of Respect, Resilience and Responsibility runs through everything we do, and we aim to provide a rich and stimulating curriculum that builds curiosity and a love of learning from the very start.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • An excellent classroom practitioner, passionate about early education.
  • Creative, motivated, well-organised and resilient.
  • Committed to inclusive, child-centred learning.
  • Willing to contribute to the broader life of the school and Trust.
  • A reflective practitioner who works effectively as part of a team.
  • Excited to be part of a growing school with big ambitions.

In return, we can offer you:

  • A warm and supportive school community where staff are genuinely valued.
  • Enthusiastic, polite and hard-working children who are eager to learn.
  • Opportunities for professional development across the Trust.
  • Strong collaboration with experienced colleagues in a nurturing and ambitious setting.
  • A well-resourced class an school environment and a dedicated, supportive leadership team.

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and encouraged - please contact the school office via admin@shilbottle.northumberland.sch.uk to arrange a visit.

For an informal discussion about the role, or to arrange a visit, please contact Headteacher Gary Parnaby via the school office.

To apply, please send your application and a covering letter (max two A4 pages) to Claire Leightley at c.leightley@peletrust.org.uk
